Did you think I forgot?

Our tradition of documenting the first day of school is going strong. I took the photos but it took me forever to add their answers because Picmonkey isn't free anymore. So sad! For next year's reference, Megan use ipccy.

So this year's word is compromise. Both of these boys are demanding a lot of that these days. The first day of school was no exception. For Miles we picked out a special first day of school outfit and everything. But the morning of his first day he decided that wasn't going to works he grabbed a shirt that is about to be too small and his boots he had just gotten for his birthday. He did wear the shorts from his original outfit though so I called it a win and off he went.

For Nolan, our compromise was that I got to choose what he wore for picture day and he chose his first day of school outfit. This is what he chose, a dabbing cat shirt. compromise.

But both were happy and proud to start school and I guess that's all I can ask for at this point.

Last Trip of the Summer

The last trip of the Summer was to my home away from home, Port Townsend.

This picture cracks me up because it could be taken anywhere we go. Miles looks confused and Nolan is talking to a stranger. Yep, that's about right!

We went up to the Fort where I spent many many days as a kid. I quickly realized how many death traps there are on this thing with my kids running loose. I have no idea how any of us survived childhood with so many staircases without railings. There are 4 in this picture with my children alone at the top. I think I had about 100 heart attacks this day.

Miles was doing a happy dance on the very top of the Fort though. Danger is his middle name.

Back on solid ground (kind of...why are the gaps in that railing so wide on a second story!?) he modeled for me while Nolan explored the tunnels with Cousin Mason.

Turning 5

Miles turned 5 this month and we celebrated with a superhero party!

Ruby Beach

I finally made it out to Ruby Beach, it only took 34 years. We came prepared for the windy Washington coast but were surprised with a beautiful calm day.

We even saw whales! Do you see their fins poking out?

The beach was covered with these tiny jellyfish. The boys occupied themselves by throwing them back into the water.
