House Update

Well we finally got the previous owners out. They were super sweet and all but were taking FOREVER to get their stuff out. But by Friday night it was all ours and we were celebrating. I drove the boys up to the house after leaving the zoo so that we could pop a bottle of sparkling cider and dream about all we wanted to do there.

It took us 3 days to notice the dinner bell hanging on the porch(look directly above Miles' head, you can barely see a little triangle bell mounted to the porch). We are officially calling this place "The Farm". It's not big enough to grow too much but it does have quite a few edible plants  already. We were able to harvest a few cherry tomatoes, raspberries, blueberries and snap peas. There are also a few roma tomato plants that are heavy with green tomatoes, a strawberry patch and a mini orchard with apples, pears and plums....I really hope I don't kill all these plants!
Miles' admiring the flowers. The owners told us they haven't seen too much wildlife in the yard, mostly these little brown bunnies. Then sure enough on day 2 we had our first siting. We introduced him on Facebook, but for the blog readers, meet Hoppy Clingman (Nolan dropped Mavis, as it was too confusing).
We are so excited to get in there but have a few things we have to check off the list before we officially move. We scrambled and found a painter who got to work right away this weekend. As of now the ceilings, trim and cabinets should be done and next weekend the walls will all be done. We got really lucky and found an amazing painter that is doing amazing work. He even color consults, which is so comforting. Today he called me to tell me that the living room color I picked out was "too blue, you won't like it", so we are reelecting (together) later this week. He told Pat to try to keep me away from the house until next week when they are all done so they can do a big reveal. I'm excited to have my own HGTV-like moment but also nervous that the colors are going to be in the wrong place.
The other big thing we checked off our list was appliances. I finally pulled the trigger on that one today after days of endless searches, second guessing and consumer reports stalking. Let's hope it was worth it!?
So now we wait...and pack. We are aiming to move on the 24th now. Not what I was hoping for but for an entirely painted house, I will be patient. I mean if anyone can pack, move, deep clean our rental place so we get back the entire deposit, and plan a 1st birthday/housewarming party (all with 2 kids in tow) in 3 weeks its me...right?!?
