Remember when I said that this was the year that I am forcing myself to buy a new camera? Well it only took me 3 months into 2013 to make it happen. I added this camera to my amazon wish list 4 years ago and now it is mine. I got a Nikon D3100 because it was well rated for low light, action shots and photos of kids. Exactly what I needed since my old camera could only handle pictures where the subject was well lit and perfectly still.
I read the manual cover to cover and dove in. I kept playing with different settings and was beginning to get a little disheartened when I wasn't seeing what I wanted. I read a couple photography blogs and watched a few YouTube videos and I got this shot.
Cortez is such a great model. It may not look like much but this was taken late at night with the TV screen as the only light source. I literally squealed in delight. So the next day when it was sunny I practiced a little more. This time with a less then cooperative model.
Not too bad, I don't think.
Finally I was feeling brave enough to tackle my biggest challenge, a running, jumping, moving Nolan. Here we are at the park this morning. I am on the carousel thing and he is pushing me at full speed. I think the camera passed this test as well. I'm so excited to learn more about what it can do and take better and better pics of my kiddos. Stay tuned!
