Nolan Portraits

I have been practicing, reading about and studying my new camera obsessively this week. It's awesome, I only wish I was instantly amazing at using its technology to its fullest. Unfortunately, I am no camera savant and I must keep practicing, reading about and studying until I can't take anymore. This week I was reading a lot about capturing light and depth of field. I had been practicing a lot of what I was learning on Miles and the cats when I realized I wasn't giving Nolan any camera attention. Poor guy! So we ventured out on a little mommy and Nolan photo shoot date (although Miles tagged along, he was sleeping in his car seat the whole time and therefore is not in any of the photos...his photo bomb is coming soon).

The sun was setting by the time we got out of the house, but we were able to grab a few warm sunny shots. This was one of the first ones I got, I loved it immediately. He looks so mature and almost unrecognizable to me since I only see him as my string bean little baby not this little boy in my lens.
Luckily, my baby boy was returned to me rather quickly when all I could get were shots of him making faces or running.
I did get him to hold still one more time by tricking him into showing me his new favorite rock. Wahaha!
After the sun set, we called it a day and headed for Alki for a quick dinner. When we got to Ma Kai, the water taxi was just pulling in and Nolan ran down the dock to greet the passengers. I couldn't pass up this opportunity, so I grabbed the camera again.

It was an awesome night with my boys...and my camera. I've named her Olivia. Oh and here's this random one, it's just so Nolan.
